Hi there! Thanks for stopping by Open Road Reads. I’m a California girl by location, but I love traveling around the United States and abroad. I’ve journeyed to places in my native California like San Francisco and Lake Tahoe, and to distant places such as Cairns, Australia, and Najac, France.  When I’m not reading or traveling, I am teaching third grade, or hanging out with my family, pets, and friends. I have two teenagers, and my husband (also a teacher) is a serious beer geek. Somehow, we always end up in a brewpub when we travel, so you may see a mention or two of some not-to-be missed beer places.

I started this blog because I love planning for upcoming trips by reading fiction books that take place in the region, along with non-fiction books that focus on the history of the area. I couldn’t find anything on the web that focused on this interest, so my hope in creating this blog is that I can help out other traveling readers. If you have some favorite regional reads of your own, I would love to hear from you.

Where did you get that adorable travel journal on your header?

It’s from Rifle Paper Company and you can get it here:  Rifle Paper Co. Bon Voyage Journal on Amazon. Wherever and whenever you travel, keep a journal. It’s so easy to forget those important details! This is another great journal if you love making lists: Travel Listography.

Disclosure:  My posts may contain Amazon Affliate links. If you buy something through the link, you don’t pay anything more, but Open Road Reads receives a small commission to help keep the site running. I won’t recommend anything on my site that I don’t whole-heartedly love. Any other links are sites, restaurants, and places I recommend and are not affiliate links. Thank you for supporting Open Road Reads!
